The holidays are a wonderful time, but they can also bring about chaos and stress (gifts to buy, events to attend, magic to orchestrate…). You get the idea. Pretty Neat is here to help reduce the chaos in all areas of your home, but with Christmas right around the corner, let’s discuss a gift-wrap stations and how to keep all the things organized and in order…
Tip #1: Create a Permanent Gift Wrap System
Having a permanent system for gift wrap is key to storing all your supplies in one place and being able to use them when needed year-round. Whether it’s a corner of the craft room or office, an unused closet, or a box that fits under a bed with all the necessities, this will help you find what you need, when you need it, and take the stress out of gift wrapping.
Tip #2: Stock Up on Essentials
Take inventory of you gift wrap station. Note what you already have and what you need, and build up the basics for supplies and workplace essentials. Consider the size of the wrapping surface, organizational tools and bins, lighting in the space, and a good chair. Ideally, this surface should remain clear, with supplies stored nearby to utilize the space well.
Tip #3: Sort Your Supplies
Sort all your supplies “like with like” and store them by season or occasion. There are all sorts of fancy ways to store wrapping paper rolls, but even a bin is great. Create a system where the paper stays in good condition and does not get ripped or torn. Also, consider storage for tape, scissors, bows, ribbon, etc. We recommend labeling all the bins so you know exactly what is in them and where everything is stored.
Once you have a gift wrapping station in place, maintenance is key! Put supplies away when you are done to keep the space clean and tidy and ready for the next gift to wrap. Keep inventory of your supplies and replenish as needed. Use this space year-round for all special occasions that require gifts.
