It’s easy for the garage to become a catch all. The good news is that it doesn’t have to stay that way. In this blog we are going to share some garage organizing tips to help you tackle your garage clutter. Let’s take back your space.
Garage Organizing Tips
Edit First
Regardless of the space you are organizing, it is critical to edit first. There is no point in trying to organize a space when you haven’t decluttered. First, decided what items you no longer need. If you have a very large garage and can’t tackle editing everything in one day, just start with one area. Then work your way through the space as time allows.
Utilize Shelving & Storage Bins
If you have seasonal items like holiday decorations and sports equipment, shelving units and storage bins are key. By utilizing shelving, you get items up off of the ground. The storage bins will keep items together so things are easy to find. Plus, storage bins keep items clean and dry. Just be sure to store heavier bins at the bottom, and lighter items up top.
Our favorite shelving units that we commonly use in our client’s garages are these. We also love these clear, plastic storage bins as well.
Climb the Walls
When floor space is limited, use that wall space. Things like bikes and garden tools can easily be stored on the walls when the correct hooks are used. Use a large pegboard to create even more space for small tools you want to be within reach.

Label
If you plan to utilize storage containers, don’t forget to label them. This will help to ensure that you know exactly what’s inside of each container; And that the items make it back to their home once you are done with them.
